Last Saturday afternoon approximately 20 people joined us on our never-ending journey to find the best nachos. Until recently, our nacho tastings once only included our close friends. Now, random strangers have caught on to the magic that comes from sharing a delicious plate of nachos.
Tonight taking over Union Hall tonight is Spicy Times, an evening curated and DJed by Nora and Jinners. On top of wanting to attend this event tonight, we got to talk to the very cool Spanish Prisoners about nachos and music:
How can you compare you music to a plate of delicious nachos?
So I’ll let you in on a secret. I’m part of the Flavorpill All-Star Bowling team in the New York Media Bowling League (possibly incorrect). On the last night of bowling, my nacho integrity was questioned by Doug Levy, who sees my mission as trying every nacho even if I know it will be horrible.
The Public House is your typical Midtown, business lunch restaurant. Which made me wonder why Lee sent me here to try their nachos? [Editor note: bad advice from a blog]. Still, some of these places have good food, our server was cute and friendly, and the restaurant wasn’t crowded with douche bags. So we grabbed a table and ordered a plate of the $14 steak nachos. While the portion was sizable, that is one of the few compliments I can give these cheese-out-of-a-bag, no gauc, almost completely flavorless disgrace.
We here at Nachos NY are obviously enthusiasts, but we’re not alone in our love. There are some that go above and beyond the means of any casual nacho fan. Today, we introduce, Shelly, a wonderful girl with an interest in avocadoes. Through her flickr, we got in touch with her. See if you can find her interest.

We have these super cool friends in a band called Graydon. They’re coming to New York to play shows at the Trash Bar on Tuesday and Fontana’s on Wednesday.
Being really cool and nacho-maniacal; they’ve recorded what has become the official Nachos NY theme.
This past weekend my mother and I traveled to the another part of New York: Jamestown. (FYI that’s south of Buffalo, you know like 400 miles west of NYC. Yea we’re still New York) A friend of the family was getting married and that occasion calls for nachos. The wedding wasn’t until 4 so we loaded up at Taco Hut on nachos and a blooming onion.
Last week, upon the pressures of finding competitors for the now infamous Guactacular, I took a moment to breathe and eat nachos. After checking the suggestion thread, I saw that people were just plain clamoring for me to eat at Florencia 13 in the Greenwich Village.
So on a lovely afternoon, I met estranged nacho eater Sara (we hadn’t eaten nachos together in like a month). We sat down and ordered nachos and me, being the lush I sometimes am had a margarita ($5 during happy hour).
