Siobhan Wallace is my homegirl. As half of Blondie and Brownie and one of my many cool co-workers at Robicelli’s, she is all over the NYC food scene. So when she was writing a piece for CBS New York on the best nachos in the city, I just had to give my two cents.
Nacho living here in New York City is generally pretty great, but in Kansas, it’s freaking awesome. At a Topeka high school, the Seaman Vikings offered one lucky fan free nachos for every goal scored.
17 year-old Dominique Ramirez was temporarily reinstated as Miss San Antonio last week after she was stripped of her crown due to taco-related weight gain. She weighs a whopping 129 pounds, or about as much as my haircut.
We’ve been reading articles ALL OVER THE INTERNET about how the meat mixture used at Taco Bell is only 35% meat. From Serious Eats I learned, “According to the USDA, the beef filling for Taco Bell’s tacos must contain at least 40% beef.” That’s gross enough. But to come in below that number is astounding.
We’re very sorry to report on a tragedy that happened early yesterday morning at the Tortilleria Chinantla in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Juan Baten, a 22-year old worker at the local tortilla factory, was killed when he was pulled into an industrial mixer.
