Did you forget? Monday is the day of all days: the Guac Rock Boat Cruise! While you’ll be scarfing down guacamole, North Highlands will be entertaining the masses. One of L Magazine’s 8 NYC Bands to Hear in 2010, North Highlands were eager answer a few questions and share their excitement to be part of this epic event.
With the Guacatcular on our door steps, I know you are just dying to meet some of the chosen few who will competing for guac glory. I sent out a few silly intro questions earlier this week. So without further ado, I present to you profiles on 11 out of the selected 20. First off, our Guactacular Champion of 2009, Karol Lu.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past month then you would know that the Guactacular is around the corner. This year, while you wet you whistle with Dos Equis and feast on 20 guacs, Alex Meixner and his band will be putting on a crazy-ass show. Mariachi polka music will be heard at the Bell House. For a little insight into what we will hear, I asked the man himself.
You may recall (how could you forget) our featured video last week of an iPad song crossed with an old Taco Bell commercial. Once we posted it and spread the love, it’s creator, Parry Gripp, immediately got in touch with us.
When we hear Savoir Adore, we clamored to talk to them! Through being a massive Nacho Nation, we were given that opportunity. Here’s there A’s to our Q’s. After you read their answers, mark your calendar for Friday night when they’ll play at Cameo with French Horn Rebellion.
Wednesday the 21st marked the International Day of the Nacho. The CMJ Marathon took place from October 20 – 24. We decided to merge them to create the NachoVersary at Fontana’s. We combined 3 live bands, Tequila, and Make-Your-Own-Nachos.
Just because we run NachosNY, it doesn’t been we’re the only people obsessed with nachos. People do things like write songs or get tattoos. We welcome that and will always write about it. Today we bring you another tattoo!
Nachos NY is going back to Mercury Lounge tonight to see And The Moneynotes. As you may recall we interviewed these guys a few weeks back and they had some interesting things to say.
So we know whether you would eat nachos from a trough or kiddie pool and we know what beverage you like to knock back when chompin’ on the ‘chos. Now nacho fanatics, would you rather wrestle in slimy sour cream or chunky guacamole? Let’s listen to the unanimous decision from And The Moneynotes.
As you should know by now, And The Moneynotes were kind enough to shoot the shit with us about all things ‘cho. They were kind enough to play along with our redonkulousness and answered a few questions only Nachos NY could ask. So what does this mean for you, the every day nacho fan who wants their share of the nacho lovin’ spotlight? Well this week we are opening up the questions to you.
Before their set at Union Pool, And The Moneynotes discussed the pros and cons of queso, the ultimate plate of ‘chos, and when they learned about the “chips and the cheese.” In the days to come, we’ll bring you more glorious bits and ask you survey questions regarding your nacho preferences with potential for prizes and fame.
Tonight taking over Union Hall tonight is Spicy Times, an evening curated and DJed by Nora and Jinners. On top of wanting to attend this event tonight, we got to talk to the very cool Spanish Prisoners about nachos and music:
How can you compare you music to a plate of delicious nachos?
