Last week, I met up with Lisa Fain, The Homesick Texan. We had been trying to eat nachos together for a long time and it finally came together on her suggestion of going to Cowgirl, a “Texas” style restaurant that she hadn’t been to in 10 years. I use quotes because as you’ll find out later, it didn’t remind her of Texas very much. As we ate, we talked about her book coming out soon, Texas, hot sauce and my glasses a little bit.
So you like salsa and people like when you make salsa? You could enter Salsa Slam, just a few weeks from now. We have some spots filled up with Nachos NY competition veterans, but we still have some left. So I thought that writing up a post to explain as much as possible would convince a few more people.
Stranded in and LA airport, our Guactcular runner-up Chris was stuck could not bring his guacamole to the masses aboard the Jewel for Guac Rock. Instead, he emailed one of his recipes to help get our creative juices going. His secret ingredient: ginger, really got the night kicked off right.
Last night, we rode the East River in style atop the Jewel. To start, we want to thank our hosts Rocks Off for having us. Next our awesome sponsors: The Skint and Scoutmob for letting the world know. We can’t forget our bands: North Highlands, The Beets and Dry Feet. We would be stupid to forget our guac-artists: Marcia, Peter, and filling in for Chris, the NachosNY All Stars. And lastly, EVERYONE WHO CAME.
Did you forget? Monday is the day of all days: the Guac Rock Boat Cruise! While you’ll be scarfing down guacamole, North Highlands will be entertaining the masses. One of L Magazine’s 8 NYC Bands to Hear in 2010, North Highlands were eager answer a few questions and share their excitement to be part of this epic event.
Guac Rock is quickly approaching (just 6 days until we hit the sea) and we thought we should provide you with the best reasons to get onboard the loveboat.
I’m all for staying hydrated and loading up on vitamins that get lost in my pee, but I cannot stand for a wasted plate of nachos. This is Vitamin Water’s latest ad campaign, dubbed “Epic Night”.
