As part of the book-writing process, we are going to a lot of meetings. We took a nacho-meeting with our editor, who finds us just darling, to newly opened Viktor & Spoils. Our evening started with each one of us needing directions to find the sign-less restaurant. One by one, we each found the door with the currency all over it and sat down.

Viktor & Spoils boasts a lovely menu of Tequila and Mezcal drinks and a wide variety of options for your nacho ordering. Being that we were a party of three, we ordered two platters. We opted for the housemade chorizo and the shortrib. The nachos also included corn tortilla chips, chihuahua cheese, oaxacana string cheese, cotija cheese, pickled jalapeno, mexican crema, blackbeans, guacamole, and charred tomato salsa.

We were one drink in when they came out. Also, let me take this spot to apologize for the pictures, this place was VERY dark and I don’t like using flash.

To start, I loved that they came in a personal size pan.

Meaning they just wanted me to dig in and ignore my friends, but I would never do that so I shared. All of the standard toppings were tasty, the chips stay crisp and I loved the cheese, but I was not a fan of the chorizo. Chorizo is usually my favorite, but here, it was lacking spice. We all agreed that the short rib was the go to of the two, but I would argue that these nachos would thrive without any meat at all.
