Wilfred the Dog Explains How to Make Nachos

This one’s an oldie but can you blame us Yankees for not having heard of the Australian series Wilfred until now? The U.S. redux starring Elijah Wood and James Gann (who also originally played the eponymous dog) only had its premiere a few weeks ago and we have a lot of catching up to do. The show is about a man who views his dog as a talking slacker in a dog-suit. Man’s best friend is taken to the literal extreme.

In this clip from 2006, Wilfred tells his owner, Adam, how he should really be making nachos. The two much on a delectable dish of the snack when Wilfred criticizes Adam’s use of the ingredients. “Lay the foundation of corn chips, cheese, salsa, guacamole if there is some…” Adam didn’t use enough cheese and we have to agree, those may not be nachos but simply a pile of chips with only a smidgen of melted cheese. Tasty, perhaps, but not nachos. Of course, add too much cheese and you risk the scourge known as “stuck-together-nachos”.

This dog is smarter than he looks, and we applaud his efforts to bring better nachos down under. We imagine he’ll have no trouble getting fed stateside.
