Calico Jack’s Cantina
Oh February 28th. One of the greatest days of my life. And nachos from Calico Jack’s Cantina almost ruined it.
I joined 100+ Buffalo Sabres fans at McFadden’s on 2nd Ave and 42nd. After rubbing elbows with Buffalo legends Rob Ray, Lindy Ruff, James Patrick and Rick Jeanneret, I was famished. We headed next door for a quick bite to eat at Calico Jack’s Cantina before heading back to BK. (Dear God, don’t go to the website. It autoplays crappy bar music from a jukebox amongst all the other confusion of its layout.) Given the location, I should have known we would get over priced, Buffalo Wild Wings caliber nachos.
The chips were flimsy, straight from a bag and had a little too much red dye #5 for my taste. It got soggy in a hurry. The huge dollop of sour cream didn’t help. Pico was flavorless and the guac had a ton of tomatoes in it and nothing more. My major beef was the price. Fifteen bucks and we didn’t even get chicken or chorizo. On a normal day I would have been fuming but after a night where you’ve hugged Rob Ray 4 times, not even a cheese sauce could dampen my spirits.
