5 Burro Cafe (Brooklyn)
Early on in the NachosNY days, we relied on the suggestions list, but never made it to suggestion #4 5 Burro in Forest Hills. We’re not borough-ist, we just have a lot of local ground to cover before we get up there. Anyway, in June, the 5 Burro Cafe crew opened a second location in the Red Hook / Riverfront area. Jake, our gardening genius friend(just wait till you see the adorable nacho garden in its infancy next week) told me how good it was and he takes his food seriously. I made a mental note and when they appeared on Groupon this week, I had to do it. I had to eat their nachos.
I went with Nozomi, who got excited when she saw Lobster Nachos (Nachos con Langosta), while I was clamoring for Spicy Chicken Nachos (Nachos con Pollo Enchipotlado). I’m not a big seafood fan, but agreed we should try it, so we had both. While we sat, we had margaritas and enjoyed some chips and salsa, salty and light with a nice medium salsa that made me want more. (We had more.)
Things to notice: A lot of Cheese (almost enough to complain, almost), fresh guac, pico de gallo, and sour cream off to the side. I mostly ate the chicken nachos and I really enjoyed them. The chipotle sauce was spicier than I expected and added to the cheesy, guac-y goodness. I devoured my spicy chos with a smile on my face. I’m not a big lobster fan, but I dug into these, too, and found that their seasoning made them pair well with nachos. Nozomi would definitely order these again, too.
The staff here was really friendly and took us out to see the amazingly huge backyard. I’d recommend you check it out.

[...] 5 Burro Cafe, 127 Columbia St. between Kane and Irving Sts., Red Hook $8: Nachos (beans, sour cream, guacamole and Jalapeño peppers) come on homemade chips made on-site. Cheese is everywhere and they’re not stingy with the guacamole. Don’t miss their backyard, too. [...]
[...] 5 Burro Cafe – The place has a wide variety of ‘cho options but go with the Spicy Chicken Nachos. If they have enough kick to excite the one and only Lee Frank, they must be good. [...]
