Cilantro Haters Have a New Excuse: Genetics
I look forward to Wednesdays because of the New York Times. That is when they included the lovely Dining Section. This weeks’ installment struck me by surprise. A story on cilantro, oh my mouth is watering already. But instead, this article defended cilantro haters by claiming that, “Some people may be genetically predisposed to dislike cilantro.” Julia Child herself hated the leafy, green goodness and while I admire her love for butter, I guess we will forever differ on cilantro.
So I ask out there nacho lovers, what’s with the cilantro hate? Apparently, it smells like soap and bed bugs? Whenever I eat guacamole with cilantro my eyes get teary with joy (hint hint Guactacular contestants) and I thoroughly enjoy the fresh flavor a few sprigs of cilantro can add to any Mexican dish. Throw it in eggs, rub it behind your ears, I don’t care. I love everything about cilantro. So tell me people, why were you born this way and how can we identify the genetic code in order to manipulate future generations so we don’t have haters around arguing with our grandchildren over Tex-Mex food?
Cilantro Love Forever. (f yeah cilantro)

grossss cilantro! it tastes like dirty pennies to me.
I love it.
Cilantro is the best! I’m glad I’m not genetically predisposed to hate it!
I love Cilantro, especially in a nice Med/Hot Salsa. Nachos, wish I could get some good ones without traveling by train, bus or car.
Never really notice it, so I guess it tastes great on my nachos!
