Elote's Sloppy Seconds
We try to be nice. If a restaurant blows the first time around but we notice that the brunch menu is tasty, the guacamole is fresh, or the margaritas are strong, we try to go back and make sure our nasty review was not a fluke. That can be said of Elote. $12 pitchers of on the rocks margaritas, delicious corn on the cob, and a great location but so-so chos.
We were joined by some awesome people from the Num Num Chronicles and we really wanted to have a glowing review to share with the world. Sadly, we were overwhelmed with guacamole. Now, you may be wondering, how does that happen? How is it possible? Well, if the guac is cold and it is plopped all over the chos it can quickly put a damper on the party.
We decided to pay the extra $3 to spring for chorizo. What we got, however, was not the spicy, porky, fatty goodness we love. It lacked a lot of flavor and tasted simply like ground pork. Nothing special about that.
I also would have been fuming if there weren’t extra chips on the table. The topping to chip ratio was out of proportion and we needed some extra chips to clean up the plate.
Overall, these nachos weren’t horrible but for 12 or 13 bucks I would have gotten another pitcher of margaritas and been much much happier.
