Nachos in Connecticut

This just in, they have nachos in Connecticut! From our friend Cindy Rowland comes a review on some sadly so-so at best nachos.

1/21/10 – Cambridge Brew House, Granby, CT

These nachos looked so promising. The first few bites were good. But then my mouth was suddenly overrun by salt. It was the chips. They were covered with an invisible but potent layer of salt. In addition, there were bits of raw white onions hidden under the cheese. So aside from the occasional taste of cheese, the overall taste was a burning, stinging, salty mess.

Along with the shredded cheese, there was fake Velveeta-like cheese. While “nacho cheese” has it’s place in ballparks, I generally don’t expect it to make an appearance in restaurants. If the nachos had otherwise been flawless, I might have been okay with it.

Adding insult to injury, the second layer of cheese was not melted! All we could do was sit silently and stare at all that cold cheese.

On a more positive note, the tomatoes were tasty. I used them to clear off a few layers of salt from my palate.

Thanks Cindy! Make sure to send your nachos to lee@nachosny.com

Nachos in CT! I'm not sure where Granby is, but next up we must try my good ol' Monroe. I see black olives, which is a major plus for me. I'm certain we can find some awesome 'chos somewhere in the Nutmeg state.
