D’Ricuras
This past weekend, NachosNY, took the subway for about 5 hours to eat nachos with 50 of our closest friends. The review of the first place, Tacos Mexico, will be reviewed by Rachel and is coming soon. I am here to present the second place, D’Ricuras, “Home of the Columbian Burger,” says the sign.
When we walked in, the first thing we noticed is the crazy bright walls and the tons of nacho fans standing around due to the person to seat ratio beyond 2:1. Since we preordered, there were aluminum tins being slowly filled with chips and the gang. We obviously overwhelmed the staff there because it did take some time until we got our nachos, they wanted them to all come out at the same time.

So, how were they? Given the amount of Nachos we had + plus the amount of guac given and extra on the side, they must have an avocado tree outside. We ordered plain, beef and chicken. The chips were crisp and the cheese melted well. The biggest issue I found lied in the guac. It was over-citrused, hurting the avocado’s flavor. The pico was tasty, but ultimately not very fresh. And I think I could do without the beef and chicken, but you know my favorite meat on nachos is chorizo. The toppings took over the platters, even the plain, as the nacho-crawlists were asking for more and more extra chips.
The staff was amazing and the owner’s daughter came by with her camera and children (youngest had a buck-toothed pacifier (AWESOME)). I think they wanted me to come back to try their Hamburgers, which sound delicious. Next time, I make it up to Queens (not often), I will definitely be returning to see the pacifier.
