MXco
After reading a preview of MXco at NYMag, I thought it would be great to eat these nachos on opening night. To my surprise, we were given a reservation and readied to hike up to the Upper East Side for some Chos. After going to Southern Hospitality BBQ down the street and Guacamole in Queens, I felt like I’d be a heavy traveler recently.
The description on the menu made me think these were gonna be some delectable nachos: “Guacamole, Chihuahua Cheese, Black Bean, Salsa Roja, Pico de Gallo, Herb Pickled Jalapenos.” We added Chorizo without even my suggestion, it was Maraysa’s. I was excited.
First thing you notice is the ever present cheese. Everywhere. And with the spread of salsa roja and crema, each bite had a little saltiness, a little spice and a little mellower. These were gone fast. I was fighting with Rachel over the jalapenos and getting territorial on my quadrant of the plate. These were very good nachos. The only drawback was that there was too many toppings maybe with us asking for extra chips to finish the delicious mess towards the end.
We also ordered the guacamole trio – 3 guacs, one Regular, one Shrimp, and the other Adobo Chicken Crackling.
We were excited for this since we hadn’t had much in different guacs since the Guactacular and the waitress told us it was the best item. This group did not agree. We felt like each guac was the same with the difference being chunks of chicken and shrimp. We were expecting some sort of Shrimp-y guac with extra seasoning you might put on shrimp. To be honest, even the regular guac was just ok.
I would definitely return here. Their margaritas are large and their nachos, delicious.

Their guac seriously angered me. The chicken guacamole had chunks, CHUNKS, of tough chicken that were bigger than your chip. The shrimp made me gag a little, I’m not going to lie. It was a good thing the nachos came in to save the day otherwise I would have cried all the way back to Brooklyn.
