Mexico vs US: Nachos Style
On Wednesday, the United States men’s soccer team traveled to Mexico in search of their first win in Mexico City vs the Mexican national team. Looking for cable television and good food, Julia and I went to the Cobble Hill area of Brooklyn to grab nachos from the Original California Taqueria and throw a few back at Floyd. As our temperament headed south, we couldn’t figure out if we were crying because of the game or our take-out nachos.
It was soggy-city as one can imagine when eating take out chips. You could tell that at one time the chips were thick enough to withstand the chicken juice, pico, sour cream, and guac. But when grandpa can gum the nachos it’s hardly acceptable.
What didn’t help the mushy cause was the chunk-less guac. I prefer Haas avocados used in my guacamole. There are other kinds that can be fruitier, sweeter, and when crushed for guac can be too smooth and runny. Take a gander at all these different kinds of California avocados.
So on top of crappy nachos, the American’s squandered an early lead to fall to Mexico. What will cheer me up? A nacho crawl you say? Oh snap.
