Enduro
On a sunny Sunday, I found myself wandering alone into Prospect Park. Deep in wander-mode, I thought Anh Tuan might be playing in the park and I called him. Given a direction, I sped to bottom of the park to find a lackadaisical game of bounce a ball happening. I am an old fan of the game and jumped in.
Just then the tide and the mood change and everyone was hungry. Of the choices of nearby restaurants, we knew there was one choice. Mexican. We walked the 3 blocks to Enduro and everyone was salivating for a change to enjoy enjoy enjoy.
Everyone asked if I’ve tried the nachos before, but this was my first time here. So of course, I ordered them.
They came out looking plain old beautiful, yet you can’t tell because my camera is in the shop and the lighting wasn’t quite iPhone ready. But that’s ok. It wasn’t photography night, yet, so back to the nachos. I was excited, thinking this place was the real deal and enjoying my friends platter of chunky guac.
When I bit in, I tasted all of the lovely flavors, but also something very wrong. The chip itself. The chip was stale. I was depressed. Everyone else tasted them and said they were fine, but I knew and I know my friends knew, too because they stopped eating. This isn’t to say they were all bad, as I mentioned the flavors were good, with yummy guac and cheese. I’d probably go for the guac next time.
