Los Pollitos Restaurant II
Nacho pit-stops sometimes happen out of the blue. That’s how we stumbled upon Los Pollitos Restaurant II. Julia and I were wandering around the Slope when Julia said she was hungry and I was like “Whoa yea, I’m hungry too.” When you write for a nachos website and you’re hungry it’s great when you’re friend suggest you eat nachos, that way you don’t feel like you are imposing your nachos-are-the-epitome-of-awesomeness world view on others. And with that, we brunched.
Los Pollitos serves brunch everyday if you are looking for some huevos con su queso. If not, the nachos there are reasonable. We decided to pass on the meat and go for an order of regular nachos. What we got was simple, fresh, Mexican goodness. Nachos originally only had cheddar and jalapenos on toasted tortillas. That is basically what we got. With a little guacamole (okay a lot of guacamole) we were in legit nacho territory. And they were magnificent. The cheese was melted, but not rubbery. The chips were fresh and withstood the weight of the cheese and guac while the green stuff was quite fresh. For less than 4 bucks, you can not go wrong at Los Pollitos Restaurant II.
Apparently there’s a Pollitos I and III out there somewhere. Perhaps our paths will cross on future nacho ventures.
