Park Slope Nacho Crawl Recap

26 May 2009 by rachel ,   3 Comments

Last Saturday afternoon approximately 20 people joined us on our never-ending journey to find the best nachos. Until recently, our nacho tastings once only included our close friends. Now, random strangers have caught on to the magic that comes from sharing a delicious plate of nachos. Maybe next crawl there will be 40 people and we will over run establishments demanding nothing short of nacho glory. However, until that historic moment,  we will relish in the past and look back at the success of the Park Slope Nacho Crawl.

First off, we have to say that NachosNY will soon be big movie stars. We won’t let it go to our heads (yet) but a documentary film maker, Jamie Locher, from NYU covered the crawl. Our names in bright lights and Golden Globe nominations are sure to follow.

There where four places on our crawl as usual: Perch Cafe, Mezcal’s, Rachel’s Taqueria, and Taco Nuevo Mexicano. Each one had its own unqique charm and good nacho qualities. I can’t say I was disappointed at any establishment. Some were standouts, no question. However, I didn’t rush off to the restroom retching either.

I'm a boss.

In addition to the nacho coverage, fan-favorite Maraysa was our “Margarita Correspondent” on this crawl. As an accompaniment to her nachos, Maraysa enjoyed a margarita at all four restaurants. Her report is on the way.

Finally, we had a group of three friends join us on this crawl who we had never met before. I think one of you left your umbrella. Hit me up if you want it back.

Thanks again for all that showed up and thanks to the restaurants for putting up with us as we sampled your nacho cuisine. The next nachos crawl? Hell’s Kitchen with time and places to be determined. Stay tuned folks.

I really think this crawl idea is pretty awesome. I missed half of this one, but the nachos at the last place more than made up for it. Congrats on finding something you love and doing it well enough to get others on the band wagon. :)
