Chi-Town Nachos

In our second segment of Your City’s Nachos, I got in touch with Colette, a supreme Chicagoan. She filled me in with the superb possibilities of the Chi-Town Nacho platter.

There are certain foods that I am extremely excited about eating in the Chicago land area. The windy city is best known for its deep-dish pizzas and “Chicago style” hot dogs. Deep dish pizzas are about one thing: cheese. Chicago style hot dogs are characterized by their poppy-seed buns, tomatoes, onions, pickled capsicum peppers and never ketchup. I feel that we can take Chicago’s tasty cheese and onion-tomato-peppers obsession and put a delicious spin on nachos: Tortilla chips smothered in delicious mozzarella cheese, lots of onions and tomatoes, garnished with sport peppers as well. But that’s not all; arrange the nachos like a deep dish pizza, spicy Italian sausage at the bottom of the pan. Place a White Sox or Cubs novelty flag on top and taa-dah! Classic Chi-town nachos.

Is this what Chicago nachos would look like? What would you add?

Italian sausage sounds like a bangin alternative to chorizo. Total Italian-Tex-Mex infusion food.
